Influenza or ‘flu’ is a serious infection of the respiratory tract than can affect millions of people every year. It is highly contagious and occurs mainly in autumn or winter.
Flu is spread from person to person by coughing and sneezing. Infuenza affects all age groups and causes moderate to severe illness, absenteeism and complications such as pneumonia, hospitalizations and thousands of deaths worldwide. The impact of influenza on society has long been underestimated.
